Members of the 150th Civil Engineer Prime Power and the 210th REDHORSE, have been on high ops tempo with back to back missions. Many of these NM ANG members, are here in Puerto Rico and where also at Kunsan AB, South Korea this past August for a 3-week mission. These Airmen come from varying backgrounds. They are police officers, bio and electrical engineers, aircraft maintainers, police dispatchers and some currently between jobs. Despite leaving their jobs and other commitments behind, they relish in the satisfaction of coming to help their fellow Airmen. They know that it is a delicate balance to put the skills they have learned through the military and what they leave behind. This TDY is no different and they come with their mission sets and showcase them by providing the help needed to get the base back to an operational status so that they can continue their mission. The assignment here is to help assess the power grid on the base and repair any faults found within the system and ensure the current output is steady. The damage was caused by Hurricane Maria that hit the island a year ago. Despite some setbacks, the base has tried to keep up with many of the issues that plague the base. Sometimes it is necessary to reach out and ask for help and the members of the New Mexico Air National Guard had no problem answering that call. “It is inspiring to get to see the progress made after such a short amount of time since the hurricane hit,” said Senior Airmen Emmanuel Castillo, 150 C.E. Power Production. These Airmen and their due diligence get the job done. Because of their expertise, they have been asked to stay a bit longer to help their counterparts catch up on a backlog of work orders. In true fashion, they have agreed to help out their fellow guardsmen. “Standing back and looking at what this team has accomplished is admirable,” said Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Benoit, 150 C.E. Power Production. “The satisfaction for me is one of two things; when my team completes the assigned mission or until we are at a stoppage due to a lack of materials, that’s the feeling that gives me the sense of pride in my team.”]]>
