Costa Rican and NMNG Aviators conduct valuable aviation information exchange

Pilots Roger Hernandez and Alex Ulloa of Costa Rica’s Servicio de Vigalancia Aerea, Senior Mechanic Zilla Davilla and Ramiro Jose Hurtado of Policia de Fronteras and Daniel Navarro of Fuerza Publica provided information about how they fulfill their mission back home…. providing their nation’s needed emergency services and helping with the efforts to curtail drug trafficking. NMNG aviation team members Maj. Michael McGahie, CW3s Jose Moreno and Dusty Brown, CW2 Samantha Paulos, Staff Sgt. Jose Bulow, Sgts. Herbie Ibarra and Leticia young (all Spanish speakers) participated in information exchange discussions on Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE), Flight Operations, Aviation Medicine, Aviation Maintenance, Search and Rescues, and Crew Resource Management. “We also flew them down to Las Cruces to see our UH 72 Lakota program, and discussed border and law enforcement operations,” said Maj. Michael Mcgahie, aviation operations officer. “We showed them the vast environment we work in – from the mountains of northern New Mexico to the hot and arid southern desert of southern New Mexico. They also got to view the Space port from a distance.” This week-long event is just one of many SMEEs the New Mexico National Guard State Partnership Program coordinates over the course of the training year with Costa Rica, our partner nation.
