Glossop promoted to Major

Glossop was pinned by his wife Noemi and daughter Annabelle. Son Matthew was present but more intent on exploring the RTI’s Multipurpose Room. Glossop is currently the personnel officer (S1) for the 515th Regiment (RTI). However, he is scheduled to depart in the next few weeks for the National Guard Bureau, where he will serve a tour on the G5 (Strategic Plans and Policy) staff. “Wars are planned by majors and lieutenant colonels. World War II was planned by majors,” said Brig. Gen. Miguel Aguilar, the Deputy Adjutant General of New Mexico. “Guys at my level don’t spend a lot of time pressing keys. We tell others what to do and guys like Major Glossop make it happen.” Regimental Commander Col. Christopher Holland, said, “Major Glossop will help plan the future of the National Guard for the next five, even ten years.” Holland lamented Glossop’s impending departure. “He (Glossop) promised to come back after this tour, but I won’t hold my breath. I am looking forward to his coming back, no matter how many tours it takes. He may even come back as a colonel.” Holland described Glossop as a brilliant and detail-oriented officer who is a superb planner. “I’m not an Infantry guy,” said Holland (a pilot and attorney), “but I can’t think of an Infantry officer in this state with a more outstanding record than Major Glossop, and that includes his combat record. He had two combat tours in Afghanistan that were almost back-to-back.” During his Regular Army service, Glossop served at Fort Carson, Colorado, and Fort Bliss, Texas. In addition to his gold oak leaf, his uniform is adorned with a Ranger tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and a 4th Infantry Division combat patch. Besides his military experience, Glossop is also well educated. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from New Mexico State University. Glossop declined to talk about himself during his brief remarks, instead thanking his family, leaders, and fellow Soldiers.
