Nava congratulated the labor relations staff, our HRO team, and Col. Nate Carper for creating what he called a very good document that talks about how we are going to work together as we accomplish the missions of the New Mexico National Guard. “My expectation is that we continue to work together,” Nava said. “The New Mexico National Guard has a long history of serving the state of New Mexico and we aren’t going anywhere. The employees represented by the agreement aren’t going anywhere. We have to work together to make this successful.” Nava said he was proud to put his signature on the document and stated that copies will be prominently displayed in all New Mexico National Guard workplaces so people know we are working together in accomplishing the missions of the New Mexico National Guard. “This is the beginning of a fresh relationship,” said Kevin White, state representative for LIUNA Locals 1776. “We are all on the same team and we look forward to working together.” The agreement’s three principles developed jointly by the New Mexico National Guard and the LIUNA Locals 1776, represents both parties mutual commitment to ensure labor and management put forth continuous efforts ensuring the fair and equitable treatment of all employees while consistently providing high-quality support to accomplishing the missions of the NMNG. Those three principles include: Principle 1 – developed jointly by the NMNG and the LUINA Locals 1776, represents the party’s mutual commitment to ensure labor and management have mutual goals on ensuring the well-being and safety of NMNG personnel and successful mission accomplishment. Principle 2 – improve communications, develop collaborative dispute resolution methods, enhance training, embrace participative decision-making, and promote a labor-management relationship based upon mutual trust, respect and understanding. Principle 3 – Promote the CBA and our supporting principles to all levels of both organizations.
