Major General Miguel Aguilar

Major General Miguel Aguilar serves as The Adjutant General for the State of New Mexico. As The Adjutant General, he serves as senior military advisor to the Governor and is responsible for providing the State of New Mexico and the United States with a ready force of citizen Airmen and Soldiers.

Major General Aguilar’s career began in 1990 as a 2nd Lieutenant assigned as an Air Defense Chaparral Platoon Leader in Alpha Battery, 1-200th ADA, New Mexico Army National Guard. He has held command leadership positions at the company, battalion and brigade levels. Major General Aguilar served as the USBATT and South Camp Commander in support of the Multinational Force and Observers mission in Sinai, Egypt in 2012 and commanded the 111th Sustainment Brigade from November 2014 to October 2017.

Major General Aguilar has been married for 22 years to his wife Christine. They have two children, Marina and Michael.
