MATES personnel deliver CONEX to Las Cruces high school

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Employees at the New Mexico Army National Guard’s Mobilization and Training Equipment Site delivered a CONEX shipping container to Oñate High School here Sept. 3.
White Sands Missile Range personnel donated the CONEX to the high school’s Navy Junior ROTC program.
Command Sgt. Maj. James Verdugo, a MATES employee whose military assignment is with the 93rd Troop Command, supervised the delivery.
MATES employees 1st Sgt. Gerardo Garcia-Guzman (3631st Signal Company), Master Sgt. Concepcion Bustamante (111th Sustainment Brigade), Sgt. Ryan Apodaca (Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 140th Aviation), Sgt. Luis Santome (India Company, 141st Brigade Support Battalion), and Spc. Patrick Mendoza (126th Military Police Company) comprised the delivery crew.
The Directorate of Logistics (G4) at Joint Forces Headquarters-New Mexico in Santa Fe placed the MATES employees on orders to cover the delivery of the CONEX. MATES Superintendent Capt. Natalia Serrano concurred with the mission.
CONEX shipping containers have become ubiquitous in the military. In addition to their intended use for transportation, they are frequently used for storage as well as working and living spaces with modification.
