NMNG Participates in Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run

Over 30 Soldiers and Airmen from the New Mexico National Guard participated in this year’s Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run from the Jemez Mountains to Rio Rancho yesterday morning.
The Guardsmen ran the torch in 1 to 2-mile segments from the Jemez Springs Public Library to the Santa Ana Star Casino and Hotel. Col. Steven Garcia and Command Chief Master Sgt. Mitchell Brush carried the torch on bicycle for 10 miles between the Zia Pueblo and Rio Rancho. The runners were escorted by law enforcement from each jurisdiction that they passed through and the NMNG’s 64th Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction). Another torch carried by law enforcement personnel linked with the NMNG at the casino where Rio Rancho Mayor Greg Hull read a proclamation recognizing the ceremony.  “I wanted to personally thank all of the officers out here for all of the amazing things you do to protect the community,” Hull said. 2018 Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run
