Sedillo’s daughter Lily switched out her mother’s rank insignia while husband Michael and son Ash watched. Sedillo serves as the RTI’s operations officer. Regimental Commander Col. Christopher Holland presided over the promotion. Holland said that Sedillo enlisted as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and was initially assigned to 1st Battalion, 200th Air Defense Artillery. She earned a commission as an Ordnance Corps officer after graduating from the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell in 2005. Sedillo went on to serve as a platoon leader, maintenance officer, and ammunition officer in various units of the 717th Brigade Support Battalion before being transferred to the 615th Transportation Battalion as the personnel officer. “She’s obviously a well-rounded logistician,” said Holland. Sedillo deployed with the 615th to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt as part of the Multinational Force and Observers from 2012 to 2013. After returning to New Mexico, Sedillo (an Active Guard Reserve officer) commanded the 720th Transportation Company while still serving as the battalion adjutant. Acknowledging this promotion has been a long time in coming, Sedillo said, “God has a plan for me.” Looking at the audience members, Sedillo said, “Thank you for believing in me.” Sedillo’s father-in-law, retired Master Sgt. Michael Sedillo of the New Mexico Air National Guard, delivered the invocation and benediction. Master Sgt. Wael Alyasi served as the master of ceremonies.
