Sanchez assumed responsibility as the command sergeant major of the 111th Sustainment Brigade in Rio Rancho later in the day.
Sanchez enlisted in the New Mexico Army National Guard in 1984. He served as a unit supply specialist, unit armorer, unit supply sergeant, battalion supply sergeant, platoon sergeant, first sergeant, mechanical supervisor and logistics sergeant major before becoming the battalion CSM.
Sanchez has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System, culminating with graduation from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star medal, two Army Commendation Medals, seven Army Achievement Medals, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star.
Sanchez works full-time at the Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site in Doña Ana. He and his wife Blanca live in Las Cruces.
Talbot enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard in 1983. He has served as a combat signaler, counterintelligence agent, and linguist. He has completed four assignments as a first sergeant, most recently with the 3631st Signal Company in Rio Rancho. Talbot comes to the 515th from Joint Forces Headquarters-New Mexico, where he served as the G4 sergeant major.
A veteran of Iraq, Talbot holds two Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, and three Army Achievement Medals among his decorations. He is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Range Science from Utah State University. He currently works as an ecologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Talbot and his wife Diantha have four children.
